- "one for the campfire!"
I love this book because it has all the elements of a good scary campfire story when you sit in the dark with a torch shining up from your chin! It is a very simple story but the illustrations are good, rather cartoon like. I am afraid you have to do the creaking and the cracking and the swooshing, as well as a spooky monster voice to give it the element of creepyness and atmosphere that the kids love. It is the reading of it that makes this a great little story - nice and short for bed time if like me you don't get away with just reading one!!!
